Martin is the son of George Cooper and lives in a suberb of Sydney, Australia and has retired from a career in the Banking & Conveyancing industries. Martin met his Australian wife in London and he emigrated to Australia in 1970.

George Cooper was born in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1916. It is believed he moved to London just prior to the war where he met and married Margaret in Croydon during April 1940. They set up home together in Upper Norwood, London, where George worked as a clerk in a coal merchant's office.
